The Earthbeat Project

Earthbeat was launched in 2020 to bring the youth4planet process of storytelling and filmmaking to a global audience. Unlike traditional youth4planet workshops held at schools and institutions, Earthbeat operates mainly through digital competitions and events. The aim is to empower young people from diverse backgrounds to develop stories and create films about the challenges they face in their communities.

Throughout the first Eartbeat film challenge, young people from over 30 countries, including Ghana, Tanzania, Turkey, Russia, and Ukraine, were able to learn about filmmaking, share ideas, and develop their story concepts.

Everyone is welcome to take part in an earthbeat challenge and film workshops – so watch out for the next to come!

Earthbeat at COP26

The results of the first challenge were showcased at an event during the COP26 climate conference in Glasgow in 2021. In preparation for the event, a team of young people rode special solar-powered cargo bikes called CreatiVelos from Luxembourg to Glasgow. These bikes were equipped with monitors to show the films along the way, and the team collected additional footage, interviews, and impressions on their journey.
