Last week, in Mamer’s forest near rue du Baumbusch, something quietly powerful happened: schoolchildren + local citizens + NGOs, and public representatives gathered to plant trees together. Mamer Alderman Edouard Buchette co-organized a local action . . . part of the European Union’s project “Three Billion Trees” . . . to support the goal of planting at least 3 Billion Trees in the EU by 2030 🌱🇪🇺

Co-organizer Jennifer Feschuk, coordinator of the EU Climate Pact Luxembourg Ambassadors . . . was interviewed by Youth4Planet during the tree-planting. Jennifer reminds us of a sobering reality. According to forest health-monitoring, only about 10% of trees in Luxembourg are currently considered fully healthy.
The causes are not mysterious:
• Increasing drought and water stress
• Soil degradation and pollution
• Pests and disease spreading through weakened ecosystems
• Accelerating pressure of climate change
Forests are living infrastructure. Forests cool our cities, store carbon, protect biodiversity, regulate water cycles, and give people a place to reconnect with nature.
Forests cannot protect us if we do not protect them.
Today’s planting in Mamer is a small but meaningful act of stewardship. Caring for trees means more than planting them. It means protecting soil, restoring water cycles, reducing pollution, and stabilizing the climate that forests depend on.

The young people planting here today understand something essential: the future of Europe’s forests will depend on solidarity, critical thinking and yes, Decency.
Youth4Planet is proud to stand with the EU Climate Pact, local communities, and educators who are turning concern into action:
Every tree planted is a promise.
Every forest protected is a future defended.
