The world needs innovation and creative minds capable of tackling the climate crisis. Therefore, we attended last year’s Luxembourg International Science Expo to meet young scientists and explore the ideas and projects they developed to advance sustainable transitions. Three projects caught our attention, prompting us to conduct small interviews with the responsible young scientists.
The Smart Farm
The first project, named “Smart Farm,” was developed by Oussama Zaim. His concern was the wastage of resources in the agricultural sector, such as excessive fertilizer or water usage. He decided to address this problem and proposed several solutions. The interview about his project can be found here.
Ecological Clean World
The next project we interviewed focused on waste separation. Zoubida and Mohammed observed that even small, simple acts like waste separation by individuals are not always done correctly. To address this issue, they initiated the “Ecological Clean World” project, aiming to reward individuals who separate their waste correctly. More information about this idea is available here.
The Water Battery
Last but not least, we were pleased to meet the trio of Hugo, Alexandre, and Thomas. This team worked on developing an idea for energy storage, a crucial component for transitioning to more renewable energy. Their solution, named the “Water Battery,” is already capable of storing energy from solar panels. Additional information about their “Water Battery” is provided here.
The Expo
All these projects offer ideas and solutions for a brighter future and represent only a small selection of the exhibited projects at the Luxembourg International Science Expo.
