As the global climate crisis continues to worsen, the urgency to take meaningful action cannot be overstated. In the face of this immense challenge, the LRSL_Actionteam4future has become a shining example of youth activism and environmental responsibility. Their tireless efforts and commitment to a sustainable future are an inspiration to young people everywhere.
A legacy of youth empowerment
The remarkable team of young activists, LRSL_Actionteam4future, was officially founded on 3 March 2022 at the Lycée Robert-Schuman in Luxembourg, with the initial spark of youth4planet. Six motivated students, driven by the conviction that “problems cannot be solved with the same mindset that created them“, took the issue of sustainability into their own hands.
From the beginning, they embarked on a journey to make a difference. They created inspiring videos, participated in stimulating discussions and worked with experts in the field. In particular, they had the opportunity to organise an event involving ministries, academics, activists and youth4planet.
A year of remarkable achievements
The journey of the LRSL_Actionteam4future during the 2022/23 school year has been nothing short of remarkable. From attending international sustainability symposia to leading initiatives within their school community, this dedicated group of young activists has left an indelible mark. Here are some highlights of their incredible year:
Beyond COP27 Symposium
the team had the honour of participating in a prestigious sustainability symposium. Together with students from seven other schools, they discussed climate change and gained practical skills to actively contribute to a better future.
Gaialux – Imaginez la durabilité
LRSL_Actionteam4future is a partner of this inspiring project and presents the 17 sustainability goals in an exhibition that focused on ecological crises and sustainable development goals. This initiative underlines the importance of sustainability and inclusion.
Participation at COP28
The team is preparing for a central role at the COP28 climate conference in Dubai. They will be conducting interviews with key figures, streaming these interviews in schools and working with media to make their voices heard. If you would also like to get involved, find out more about what we are planning for COP28 here
Promoting Sustainability through Water Dispensers
Recognizing the environmental impact of single-use plastic bottles, the team will initiate a project to install water dispensers in their school. This effort not only reduces plastic waste but also instills values of sustainability in students.
Strengthening recycling initiatives
The LRSL_Actionteam4future will work to improve recycling opportunities at their school. By strategically placing recycling bins, they encourage active participation in recycling and educate students about its importance.
Looking to the future: the team’s future is bright. They are looking to expand their membership base, form partnerships, harness technology and advocate for social justice in addition to environmental protection.
