Earthbeat’s road to COP26 started on the 2nd of July 2021 with the first day of workshops at the University of Ghana in Accra. Throughout the day, 15 young participants learnt the basic steps of story development – how you interview experts, how you ask investigative questions and turn your idea into a film narrative. Workshop participants will continue throughout the month to learn about the technical craft of smartphone filmmaking and how to offer peer-peer evaluative feedback.

Earthbeat have also partnered with Kid-Start to host a storytelling workshop in a Palestinian refugee camp in Lebanon close to the capital. Day 1 started on the 5th of July with the final day of activities taking place throughout the first week of August. Over the past few months, Earthbeat has been working alongside Green Africa Youth Org (GAYO) based in Ghana to coordinate a series of film, storytelling and journalism workshops in response to the deteriorating effects of the climate and ecological crisis.

Earthbeat and GAYO are hosting X4 3 day workshops across 4 universities in Ghana. This includes the University of Cape Coast in Cape Coast, University of Science and Technology in Kumasi, University of Development Studies in Nyankpala and the University of Ghana in Accra.
