CreatiVelo meets cycling heroes

Reading time: 2 min.

Have you ever met new people while driving a car? When we’re in our cars, we barely interact with the other people sitting in the cars next to us. Unlike cycling, where you don’t have a metal cage around you that prevents interaction.

As the CreatiVelo is a bike, a special looking bike, it is a real interaction magnet. While cycling to our appointments, we always encounter curious people who wanted to know more about the CreatiVelo.

One of them was Christian. Even the rain couldn’t stop him. So, we shared the story of CreatiVelo with him. We also had the opportunity to listen to Christian’s story about how he became a cycling hero.

Christian – Cycling Hero

Christian uses his bike for everyday transportation, regardless of the weather. He mentioned that he changed his lifestyle after reading Geoff Dembicki’s book “Petroleum Papers.” Now he’s on a mission to motivate more people to cycle – a true cycling hero! He also advocated that Luxembourg would be the perfect 15-minute city.

However, for Luxembourg to become a 15-minute city, there is still much to be done from a cycling perspective. This concluded our cycling hero duo: Lucien and Philippe.

They expressed that cycling is a good mode of transportation: it makes them happy, and on top of that, it’s more environmentally friendly than driving a car, concluded the 11-year-old Philippe. But the cycling-happiness comes to an end with the lack of infrastructure. Lucien pointed out that many young people fear cycling if there is no appropriate infrastructure. Philippe wishes for more cycling paths because sometimes he needs to cycle on the road with all the cars.

Pit – Cycling Hero

Our next and final cycling hero in this blog post is a former doctor named Pit. We met him at Velosummer (an event in Luxembourg where some streets are closed for motorized vehicles during August, allowing cyclists to enjoy the routes in peace). He told us that cycling brings many health benefits, which is one reason why he started cycling a lot 30 years ago. Regarding Velosummer, he expressed that he loves the idea but believes the event should go beyond. Because it’s phenomenal to cycle in nature.

It is always beautiful and important to meet likeminded people. Because together we can make it happen!
